“What is freedom of expression? Without the freedom to offend, it ceases to exist.”  – Salman Rushdie

As you can imagine, we get quite a few threats throughout the course of the day.  While the death threats have become commonplace and increasingly boring, I’m still entertained by the legal threats in regards to the memes we post on the page and even more so the comments in the threads.   For example, this morning we received a threat to be sued because a man’s wife left a comment on one of our posts and a bunch of people said some horrible things to her.  This is the problem with our society.  I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, we raised a bunch of sheep and expected the wolves to play nice.

“we raised a bunch of sheep and expected the wolves to play nice.”

Let’s break this down logically.  This guy thinks because a woman we don’t know (his wife), who without being prompted left a comment on a public forum and received some disgusting comments from people that we don’t know via a website (Facebook) which we don’t own, that The Tasteless Gentlemen should be held liable.  Why should we be held liable you ask?  Because as he says, we condone rape and people who look up to us will start raping women.  We have in no way, shape, or form ever condoned or encouraged rape. That’s pretty clear.  What I really want to examine is the absurd argument that we encourage ‘rape culture.’

“We have in no way, shape, or form ever condoned or encouraged rape.”

Rape has been around longer than TTG, in fact, thousands of years longer.  So has murder, theft, and other violent crimes, and  they will continue to exist long after we are gone.  So to suggest that TTG somehow encourages and supports rape there would need to be some kind of data proving how horrible of an influence we are.  But there’s not.  It’s actually the exact opposite.  Over the last two decades rape has gone down by 45%, and 55% when adjusted for population.  So is the feminist movement responsible for that decline?  Nope.  All violent crime has taken a sharp decline over the same two decades showing an overall trend in society.  So after this logical argument they must stop arguing, right?

Great article guys, these people are the ones who have just recently discovered the net and take everything they see seriously as if it’s the scripture or something. There’ll always be a buncha mongs, and that’s what makes the interwebs a fun place. You keep on keeping on TTG!

We’ve raised a bunch of sheep and expect the wolves to play nice. Very poignant. I think the sentiment should be further extended to acknowledge that those whose first instinct is to look to blame anyone else without examining their own actions are deluded to the point that they themselves are the ones causing the problem. For what is more egotistical or narcissistic then expecting the rest of the world to behave exactly as you wish and feeling that there should never be any negative ramifications for their own foolish choices. The South Park song safe space comes to mind.

You should just point them to section 230 of the Communications Decency act. It’s pretty clear that content owners/publishers are in no way responsible for comments. Then maybe they won’t bother anyone else with these tripe threats.

It’s too bad people get so offended by the smallest things in the world but don’t bother to look at all the intricacies, the situations, the variables and the big picture of the argument or subject matter of joke or argument.

Their feelings don’t trump our God given rights.

I’m gonna sue you for making me laugh too much. It’s really ruining m6 depressed state that the world leaves me in if I think like everyone else.
    My demands for settlement.
    1. More mêmes.
    2. More calling people on their bullshit.

If these aren’t met I’m going to just keep reading and viewing your posts.
And if they are. See above comment.
